About us

Blythe House, Chapel-en-le-Frith, offers free, individualised, holistic care and support for anyone in the High Peak living with cancer or other serious, life threatening illness.

Discovering what's important, being offered practical help and advice and exploring new ways of coping enables people to live their lives to the full through an often difficult and stressful time.

Clients are welcomed as guests and a range of Day Care and home-based, group or individual services is available for them, their carers, family and friends. Support groups such as Carer's Day, Stepping Stones, Breast Care and Circle of Friends meet on a regular basis.

How we do it

Our highly-skilled team of specialist doctors, nurses, complementary therapists, counsellors and volunteers offers a range of services and supports in a positive and tranquil environment.

At Blythe House, specialist palliative care interventions can include symptom control, pain relief, counselling, complementary therapy, a chat and a laugh with others in a similar situation or an art therapy session that may reveal previously hidden talents!

Alongside our staff, a large team of volunteers works in many areas of the hospice enhancing our services or fundraising independently and within our shops. We are always delighted to hear from people who are interested in volunteering or fundraising.

Accessing our services

There is no need to be referred by a professional. You can refer yourself or ask your GP, District Nurse, Macmillan/Marie Curie nurse, hospital, carer or family to do so on your behalf.

Blythe House enjoys a close relationship with local residential hospices, primary care, voluntary organisations and local hospitals including the Christie Hospital, Manchester, and Weston Park, Sheffield.
