Macmillan Living Well Service                

Where is it? 

The Macmillan Living Well with Cancer  Service is situated within the Living Well Centre at Blythe House, Chapel-en-le-Frith, SK23 9TJ.

What is it?

A comprehensive range of services and  support where  residents of the High Peak who have been diagnosed with cancer will be warmly welcomed by skilled and experienced healthcare professionals.  They, their  families and carers will have access, free of charge, to an extensive range of physical and psychological services and support in a calm and relaxed environment.

Who can attend?

Anybody,  from those who are newly  diagnosed, to others at any point along their cancer journey. 

How to access the   service:

•Self or professional referral
•Informal ‘Drop in’ at the Centre on   Tuesdays anytime between 10am-4pm.

What happens next?

On referral and where desired, an  appointment will be given to attend for an initial assessment with a specialist nurse  experienced in cancer rehabilitation.  This  assessment aims  to elicit concerns or  information needs and negotiate an  individualised programme.  Attendance at the Macmillan Living Well Service is for as long or short a time as desired and can be re-accessed at subsequent future times. 

Macmillan Living Well with Cancer Programme 

Offers a variety of 1:1 and group  activities.  Sessions by appointment  include:
• Nurse assessment and ongoing key  worker support
• Specialist Consultant Palliative   Medicine Clinic
• Physiotherapy assessment
• Spiritual and religious support
• Counselling 
• Family therapy and young   people’s counselling
• Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy 
• Complementary therapies    

Drop in Groups

(No appointment necessary) include: 
• Creative Art Therapy 
• Education Group
12 week rolling programme including sessions on: Adjusting to a cancer diagnosis;  Understanding and managing fatigue;  Financial and welfare rights; Understanding and managing stress; Relationship, sexuality and body image;  Understanding treatments and medications; Nutrition for health and many more. 
• Support Group 
• Complementary Therapy Group  Taster sessions including: Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki healing 
• Mindfulness Meditation Group 
Clients accessing the Macmillan Living Well with Cancer Service are supported to make informed choice about their lives and offered access to therapeutic interventions that  maximise their quality of life and help them ’Live Well With Cancer’
